About the site
About me
Currently I work as ICT Coordinator in an EBD school in the north-west of England. The website first came about in 1999 when I started teaching Office Applications. The opportunity to share materials I was producing with lots of other teachers around the country gave me a buzz and whenever I find the time to expand or improve the site it still does.
What's the purpose of the site and who runs it?
This has always been a one man band. I create all the pages and many of the resources that are provided. Although reference is made to the site in AQA publications none of it is their responsibility.
The whole point of the site though is to share teaching resources. Nobody receives any payment for their work but by the same token nobody pays for the resources they download. The benefit comes in being able to quickly access a library of resources that is available at short notice. Contributors acknowledge this benefit by submitting materials of their own and my thanks go to those people.
Finances - who makes money?
Short answer - nobody. Initially the site was personal and dedicated to a mild interest in Egyptology being more like a hobby whilst I learned HTML. There were no costs involved only a measure of how much time I spent on developing it. With the switch to teaching resources it was necessary to invest a lot more time and, to a small extent, some cash.
Although I toyed with the idea of changing the site to a subscription service I realised that route would go against the principles that motivated me in the first place. In keeping with the idea that the user should have free access I have decided whilst I run the website there will be absolutely nothing here that will cost you anything at all.
