  1. Database Presentation (iwChameleon) 
    This presentation has been used to introduce the subject of databases. Includes summary of paper and electronic databases plus structure.
  2. Registration Form (Hangers Model Agency) (G Martin) 
    Students are asked to produce a registration form for Hangers. There is a database included giving clues as to the data that needs to be collected plus guidelines on the worksheet.
  3. Spreadsheet to Database (Coedcae Youth Club) (G Martin) 
    The purpose of this exercise is to take an existing database stored in a spreadsheet program and import it into a proper database application. Additional material includes the creation of a mail merged letter and labels plus production of a ticket in MS Publisher.
  4. Footballer Database Task (N Carter) 
    This task involves the interrogation of a database (provided in Access format) plus completion of a memo.
  5. Book Database Task (F Stanbridge) 
    Following the creation of this book database students are required to interrogate it and note the results. Requires students to add, delete and edit records plus, know the correct queries and write them down.
  6. Data Types (L Radbon) 
    This worksheet can be used either as a classroom exercise (eg starter activity) or homework following discussion of data types in a database. Sheet provides a small database and student must enter details of the data type for each field plus an extended explanation of each one. Answers are included on a second sheet.
  7. Software Catalogue (G Cartlidge) 
    This is a huge database to interrogate. No deleting the odd line here and pretending you did it the right way. Worksheet plus csv file provided ready to import to your favourite database application.
  8. Teachers on Tap (G Martin) 
    Teacher supply agency wants a registration form for new clients. Database supplied to help with deciding what information should go on the form.
  9. Cafe Database (S Corbishley) 
    This task requires students to initially create a database and then add a new field to take coded data and requiring a validation rule. Queries are then required in order to search the data. Finishes with a memo task asking to explain the purpose of the validation rule.
  10. Databases (iwChameleon) 
    A revision sheet describing the structure of a database together with the advantages and disadvantages of using an electronic database.
